Safran has won Act 2 of the Douarnenez Grand Prix finishing ahead of Akena Vérandas and Maître CoQ.
Safran quite logically won Act 2 of the Guayader Grand Prix this weekend. “Logically” because since Act 1 last weekend (Safran was third on equal points with PRB in second place), the best prepared boats – Macif, PRB and Banque Populaire – had left to sail elsewhere. Without wishing to take anything away from Arnaud Boissières’s Akena Vérandas or Jérémie Beyou’s Maître CoQ, which recently had their new masts fitted, it would not be unkind to say that they were still in the preparation phase.
Marc Guillemot had in fact forecasted this: « We are staying here to compete in Act 2 of the Guyader Grand Prix, as I believe that it is an excellent way to prepare and to clock up a few more miles racing with a crew. The actual result is of secondary importance, even if, of course, as is always the case, we shall be doing our utmost to win. »
So it is mission accomplished for the crew of Safran, who won all three races that were run in this second Act with just three boats competing in rather light conditions: the traditional speed run was also won by Safran recorded doing 14.02 knots. Another fine win for the grey and orange monohull and the crew of Safran, which included Marc Guillemot, Loic Lingois, César Dohy, Sébastien Audigane, Karine Fauconnier, Vincent Busnel, Alexandre Marmorat and Pascal Bidégorry.
We should add that all three races in this second Act finished in the same order with Safran winning, Akena Vérandas coming second and Maître CoQ third.
