Thanks to Les Grandes Tables du Monde, we’re off to the shores of Lake Lucerne today to discover Focus Atelier. Located in the Park Hotel Vitznau, this gourmet restaurant’s kitchens are orchestrated by chef Patrick Mahler.
Year after year since 1954, Les Grandes Tables du Monde has continued its selection of the world’s finest restaurants. It strives to offer excellence, to propose unique and prestigious places where the experience is incomparable, the generosity and the sense of welcome unparalleled. Today, it brings together 192 establishments in 23 different countries, with the same motivating principle: high standards, attention and feeling.
In its selection, the Focus Atelier. A gourmet restaurant located within the five-star Park Hotel Fitznau, an intimate establishment – with just eight tables – where creative, refined cuisine is prepared in the hands of chef Patrick Mahler. His aim? “To use fresh food and a few deft creative touches to create an unforgettable moment of pleasure: just wow!”
The sensational location alone merits the restaurant’s two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points: the tables face Lake Lucerne. The magic of this natural setting, which stretches as far as the eye can see, is matched by the score played out on the plates. Chef Patrick Mahler and his brigade take diners on an eight- or eleven-stage journey through French-inspired cuisine with Scandinavian influences. Elegance is combined with a variety of flavors in colorful plates prepared with seasonal produce from around the world. This is a workshop, and the creations are works of art that get to the heart of the matter and strike the right balance, without ever forgetting to surprise the taste buds. The stars are as much in the dishes as in the eyes of the guests, who are passionate about haute gastronomy. Great art, “just wow!”, the gamble has paid off for chef Patrick Mahler.
