Switzerland SailGP
For the past three seasons, Switzerland SailGP Team has been competing with the world’s top sailors. Another challenge for Sébastien Schneiter and Team Tilt.
From the Optimist to the F50 and from the pedal car to Formula 1. For Switzerland, entrusting its top racers to represent the nation in this ultimate sailing event was a natural choice. And who better to take up the challenge than Alexandre Schneiter’s Team Tilt? He has spent the past decade developing and fostering Swiss sailing talent, so the circuit aligns perfectly with the team’s DNA. United under Sébastien Schneiter, Team Tilt has excelled on both Lake Geneva and international one-design circuits.

Their achievements include wins in the Bol d’Or, in the D35 class, and in the GC32 World Championships, world medals in the 49er class, three Olympic Games appearances, and two Youth America’s Cup campaigns, highlighted by an impressive third-place finish in Bermuda in 2017, with the team consistently focusing on one-design racing. There is nothing quite like racing on equal terms. Experience, talent, and hard work make all the difference. It was natural for Tilt to join the SailGP circuit in 2021, when it was launched after the 2019 America’s Cup by Larry Ellison and Russell Coutts. The financial guarantees provided by the billionaire, and the legendary sporting expertise of the New Zealander, quickly persuaded the team that this championship had a bright future. And that this would involve Switzerland and Geneva, of course. From the moment the creation of Switzerland SailGP Team was announced, Alexandre Schneiter voiced the idea of bringing the best sailors in the world to Lake Geneva, since SailGP is all about flying catamarans battling with each other in iconic locations.
Sébastien Schneiter, a native of Geneva, joined SailGP in 2022—unfazed by the challenge and driven by a passion for speed and high performance, with downhill skiing, paragliding, wing foils and flying boats. His DNA ticked all the boxes. He brought everyone who had been part of the Tilt adventure on board. The launch of the team was not helped by the return of Alinghi Red Bull Racing to the America’s Cup, which attracted significant interest from young sailors. In the end, it did not matter. For three years, Sébastien Schneiter remained dedicated to the team. His experience grew. The team also grew, on and off the water. The project’s professionalism appealed to sponsors, encouraging them to make a long-term commitment. For over a decade, the Team Tilt approach on the water has remained consistent – rooted in hard work, humility, and, above all, faith in their own abilities. In the last three years, despite a number of crew changes, the team has made steady progress. The scattering of Swiss talent between SailGP and the America’s Cup in Barcelona is now a thing of the past. For its third season on the circuit, the Switzerland SailGP Team has focused its top talent in a single, unified effort.
With Sébastien Schneiter as skipper, alongside Arnaud Psarofaghis and Bryan Mettraux, Team Tilt’s key members are back together. Following a half-season in 2025 marked by some inconsistency, Switzerland currently sits mid-table in a fleet that includes sailors whose achievements extend far beyond world medals, Olympic titles, and wins in the America’s Cup and SailGP. It is in this highly competitive environment that the performances of the Switzerland SailGP Team truly stand out. Starting with a resounding Victory in Round 5 in San Francisco and the first podium in Portsmouth. Successes that set the tone for those that followed. Why not in Geneva?
