Five days to go until the European Championship A-Class 2012 in Arco, Lake Garda. Top-Event in A-cat sailing: the Formula-1 catamaran!
The A-Cat European Championship 2012 starts in five days. Imagine 100 hi-tech, single-handed catamaran boats from 19 nations and 4 continents on the start line. They are coming to Arco, Lake Garda in Italy to compete in one of the most spectacular regatta in perfect, but difficult wave and wind conditions.
Organized by Swiss A-Class Association (SACA) in collaboration with the local Italian sailing club Circolo Vela Arco (CVA), this sailing event happens from 22th to 29th of June on the northern part of the Lake Garda, known as one of the most famous and beautiful sailing areas in Europe.
Competition at the highest level will see the participation of world champions Steven Brewin (AUS), Nils Bunkenburg (GER), European champion Bob Baier (GER) and national champions Sascha Walmer (SUI), Jean-Louis Le Coq (FRA), Chris Field (GBR), Pieter-Jan Dwarshuis and Sjoerd Hoekstra (NED) but also Olympic medallists Scott Anderson and Andrew Landenberger (AUS), plus America’s Cup sailor Mike Drummond (NZL) and stars from the AC45 and Extreme-40 series.
