This brand new hybrid trimaran (diesel/electric) from the shipyard in La Rochelle outstrips its predecessor, the 50. Don’t be fooled by its name: The Leen 51 is a full 76 centimetres longer and 26 centimetres wider than the Leen 50. As before, Bernard Nivelt is responsible for the hull design, although the new model has considerably more power: A 600 hp engine (instead of 300) and two electric motors with 20 kW each make the trimaran significantly faster. Its top speed increases from 14 to 20 knots. As it only consumes two liters of fuel per nautical mile at a top speed of 10 knots, one tank of fuel is enough for 1400 nautical miles. At anchor, the solar cells on the hardtop of the flybridge provide 2500W, so that all devices can be used. The living area is impressive. Wide gangways, trampolines and, of course, the flybridge with its huge saloon with 360° sea views create a unique feeling of space. Inside, there is enough space for four double cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. While the owner’s cabin is located next to the seating and dining area and the wheelhouse on the main deck, the three guest cabins are spread over the three hulls.
