Riva Iseo Super: a plastic dream

by Philippe Leblond

An offshoot of the Iseo launched in 2011, the Iseo Super was unveiled at the last DĂŒsseldorf Motor Show. While the dimensions and silhouette remain unchanged, with a windshield of rare elegance and a gradual fall in the deck line all the way to the stern, there have been a few changes: the design of the front deck has been slightly modified, the picnic table is now in mahogany (like the deck with its 24 coats of varnish!), the upholstery is different, and the diesel engine, Yanmar, has been replaced by Volvo. However, the Sarnico shipyard insists above all on the new color of the shell: “Vulcan Grey”, a reference to volcanic stone. For the rest, passengers will appreciate the numerous seats (homologated for only six people) and the spacious solarium covering the engine compartment. Riva claims a top speed of 38 kts with a Volvo 305 hp petrol or a Volvo 300 hp diesel, and 41 kts with a Volvo 350 hp petrol. Gasoline engines seem more in keeping with this nautical icon, since passengers’ ears will be flattered by the hum of a V8!
