Fifth place for Mathis Bourgnon (ASSOMAST) and sixth place for Felix Oberle (Big Bounce). The two Swiss competitors in last week’s Mini in May were close to the podium after more than three days of an almost 500-mile race, won by BenoĂ®t Marie (Nicomatic – Petit Bateau). An encouraging result, considering the thirty or so protos entered in this Breton loop between La Rochelle and Brest, which represents the largest field of Mini Transat preliminary races. These preparatory races are not to be taken lightly. In a transatlantic year, they represent the last opportunity to fine-tune skipper and equipment.
