After winning the Mini Transat in proto, Mathis Bourgnon set off again on Monday evening for a new North Atlantic crossing: 4,050 miles of negotiating the lows, thanks to his father Yvan’s routing. If he succeeds in this challenge – a winter crossing of the North Atlantic – the Franco-Swiss sailor will achieve a first in a Mini 6.50.
Mathis Bourgnon has put his proto number 994 Assomast at the service of rare diseases. After his masterly victory in the Mini Transat, 30 years to the day after his father Yvan, the 28-year-old skipper is taking on a second challenge.
Last Monday, Skippers magazine was able to interview the young sailor from Lausanne on video, a few hours before his departure from Guadeloupe. Watch the video here.
