This merger combines the international expertise of the German yacht and boat insurer Pantaenius with the local know-how of the Swiss company Murette AG. For the Baums, boat insurance is a family affair. In the 1970s, Harald Baum took over Pantaenius in Hamburg and Hans-Peter Baum founded Murette AG in Bern. Both companies offer insurance solutions for water sports. They have been on course together since April 1, 2025. Garlef, Hans-Peter’s son and Managing Director of Murette AG, has joined forces with his cousin Anna Schroeder, Harald’s daughter and Managing Director of the Pantaenius Group. She comments on the merger: “Having Murette at our side will optimally strengthen our commitment in Switzerland. Our customers in Switzerland will now have the benefits of a global network and the resources of our claims management.” The Pantaenius Group was founded in Hamburg in 1899 and is today Europe’s leading provider of boat and yacht insurance. It relies on a worldwide network of over 35,000 specialized water sports companies. Murette AG offers customized solutions for yacht and charter insurance and is a long-standing partner of the Cruising Club of Switzerland (CCS). The Swiss boating community can only benefit from this alliance.
