by Marine Ulrich

France

Renowned for their grandeur, elegance and refinement, InterContinental hotels offer choice addresses in Geneva and beyond. It’s in Marseille and Lyon that we set down our suitcases for a few days to rediscover the French art of living.

InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu Marseille

Prestigious accommodation and well-being
Perfectly embodying the spirit of the city, the InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu blends ancient charm with modern comfort. Elegantly decorated rooms and suites offer absolute comfort and breathtaking views of the Old Port and the city. At the hotel, relaxation continues with a massage at the Spa by Clarins and a dip in the indoor pool, inspired by Provencal basins and wash-houses.

Tasty pleasures
Hot off the press! The InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu boasts a refined culinary scene. In a convivial atmosphere, the restaurant Les FenĂȘtres offers authentic Mediterranean brasserie cuisine, just like the large tables you’d expect to find in the south of France. With its decor reminiscent of boats and the marine world, the bar Le Capian opens its doors to you for a moment of relaxation after a day of exploration. A mecca for Marseille’s nightlife, the bar’s impressive cocktail menu features over 200 spirits and alcohols from around the world. This summer, the Capian and its panoramic terrace set sail for the Caribbean. Caribbean-inspired creations have been created for the season in collaboration with Brugal, a pioneer in rum production in the Dominican Republic.

Experience Marseille and Provence
Between land and sea, the majestic building of the InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu awaits you for a stay at the pace of Provence. Just a stone’s throw from the Old Port, the location is ideal for strolling down to the quays, admiring the boats, visiting the MUCEM or venturing into the lively streets of the Panier under the benevolent gaze of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde. The hotel is also the ideal base for exploring the CĂŽte Bleue, the region’s typical hilltop villages and the vineyards that stretch between sun-drenched plains and hills.

InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu Lyon

Witness to centuries of rich history, Lyon’s InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu offers a plunge into the heart of the Gaul capital’s heritage. The five stars of this emblematic building of the city shine to let you live the local experience to the full.

A place steeped in history, totally reinvented
With its colossal 360-meter façade, the InterContinental HĂŽtel Dieu stands majestically along the RhĂŽne. After several years dedicated to a major renovation project, this former hospital dating back to the Middle Ages and a landmark of Lyon’s heritage reopened its doors in 2019. Today, it houses 144 rooms and suites, whose spaces have been entirely redesigned around a “monastic and precious” decorative concept to let the natural power of the building’s architecture express itself, while offering modern comfort and luxury.

The DĂŽme Bar for a unique experience high above the ground
On the second floor, the impressive 32-meter Soufflot dome houses the hotel’s nerve center and one of the most impressive bars in the world. It’s here, at the DĂŽme Bar, that visiting guests mingle with regular Lyonnais for a delicious tea-time, a wine workshop, a musical aperitif or a late-night cocktail. The menu surprisingly but skilfully blends the signatures of the best international spirits with local roots and ingredients. For summer, new creations around the world of perfume have been imagined for a sensory and aromatic journey evoking the four seasons.
