Readers of Skippers will remember the MODX 70 project involving the president of the Race for Water foundation, Marco Simeoni. The aim? To build a 100% electric catamaran (without a generator), thanks to a solar park of over 70 m2 and an innovative rig. The MODX features two amazing retractable inflatable wings, each measuring 125 m2. These are fully automated and are said to be 35% more efficient than a conventional rig of equivalent size. As boat no. 1 is due to be launched shortly after this issue goes to press, it will be possible to try it out. Geneva-based Fert has become the exclusive charterer of the MODX 70, which will be offered as a crewed charter departing from the Balearic Islands. Would you like to try this new form of yachting?
