ABOUT US

Gunboat? The word means gunboat: an armed warship designed at the end of the 17th century to operate in shallow waters (rivers, canals) where large ships could not go. The term was revived in 2002 in the United States when a new brand of racing catamarans was created, incorporating the latest technology from the world of racing. Gunboats are still habitable multihulls that are suitable for short-handed cruising. Around thirty multihulls were built – in South Africa, China and then North Carolina – before Groupe Grand Large took over the reins of the brand in 2016 and relocated production of these all-carbon catamarans to La Grande-Motte, close to the famous Outremer. The first model to be launched was the Gunboat 68, of which only 8 were produced. Today, the range includes the Gunboat 70 and the Gunboat 80 (the first of which has just been launched). A third model, the Gunboat 72, features a flybridge.
