Le groupe naval de défense DCNS se retire du programme océanique de l’Hydroptère. Le trimaran à foils d’Alain Thébault devait tenter de battre le record du Pacifique cet été mais faute d’une météo favorable, la tentative a été reportée d’un an. Ce nouveau calendrier ne correspond plus aux attentes de DCNS qui n’a pas de marché aux Etats-Unis.
Alain Thébault et son équipe remercient DCNS dont le soutien a permis de lancer la campagne océanique du « bateau qui vole ». L’équipe de l’Hydroptère salue également les ingénieurs du groupe et tous ceux qui ont soutenu le projet pendant un an.
« Nous sommes surpris et évidemment déçus de ce revirement mais nous gardons bon espoir. C’est la première fois qu’un voilier hydrofoiler tente un record océanique. DCNS nous a donné les moyens de démarrer l’aventure et nous irons jusqu’au bout. Le projet a montré qu’il suscitait un réel engouement et nous espérons que ce défi pionnier, auquel nous croyons beaucoup, trouvera un nouveau soutien à temps, en France ou à l’étranger », a indiqué Alain Thébault.
Avec l’appui du Consul Général de France à San Francisco, les quatre marins, Alain Thébault, Jacques Vincent, Jean Le Cam et Yves Parlier vont créer « Hydroptere Pacific », une structure californienne dont le but sera d’encourager l’arrivée de potentiels sponsors américains.

Alain Thébault’s hydrofoil trimaran, originally set to attempt the Transpac record this summer, had to post-pone her departure due to the absence of favorable weather windows. This new calendar doesn’t meet with the group’s expectations which does not have a market in the US.
Alain Thébault and his team thank DCNS whose support helped launch the ‘flying boat’ oceanic campaign. The team also acknowledges the work done by the group’s engineers and by all those who have supported the project over the year.
« We are surprised and obviously disappointed but we remain hopeful. This is the first time a hydrofoiler attempts an ocean record. DCNS gave us the means to start the adventure and we will go all the way. The project demonstrated it can generate a great enthusiasm and we hope that this pioneering challenge, in which we strongly believe, will find new support in France or abroad », says Alain Thébault.
Supported by the Consul General of France in San Francisco, sailors Alain Thébault, Jacques Vincent, Jean Le Cam and Yves Parlier will create « Hydroptere Pacific », a Californian structure with the objective of encouraging potential American partners to be part of this adventure.
