An iconoclastic project, to say the least. Benoît Alt, 17th in the last Mini, is setting off on a new adventure. The Swiss sailor isn’t changing his mount, but his philosophy! He’s keeping his 2009 proto, but equipping it this winter with two voluminous C-shaped foils. The work was carried out by experts in the field, at MB Composite in Yverdon. As the first old-generation proto to take this route, its performance will undoubtedly be scrutinized against that of more recent rounded bows. A choice that has a double advantage: limiting costs and the racer’s carbon footprint.
