Motor Multihulls: YOT 36: The “Beach Club” Effect

by Philippe Leblond

The YOT 36 designed by J&J Design is 80 centimetres shorter and 50 centimetres slimmer. Powered by two Mercury engines with 225 or 300 hp each, the power cat made of carbon fiber-reinforced polyester can reach speeds of 32 or 37 knots. It impresses with its dimensions as soon as you get on board. With the sides folded out, it reaches a wingspan of 5.40 meters and forms a terrace surrounded by the sea at 270°, which is in no way inferior to the beach clubs of superyachts. A hardtop covered with solar panels protects the forward part of the cockpit with steering position and galley. The aft section, which includes a spacious seating area for ten to twelve guests, can be transformed into an XXL sun deck. On the same deck, a wide, well-protected walkway to starboard leads to the bowrider, where you can make yourself at home on comfortable sofas. The asymmetry of the gangways is due to the larger double cabin on the port side. There is only a single berth on the starboard side. However, both have their own bathroom.
