Justine Mettraux: Looking back on an extraordinary year

by Pierre-Antoine Preti

At a meeting at the Cité des Métiers vocational training center in Geneva, Justine Mettraux took stock of her year 2025. The fastest woman in the Vendée Globe is currently waiting for her new boat, which is due to be delivered in spring 2027. An ideal moment to reflect on her fantastic year 2025 and look ahead to the challenges that lie ahead in 2026.

Justine Mettraux (TeamWork Team SNEF) took third place behind Sam Goodchild (Macif Santé Prévoyance&Biotherm) and Jérémie Beyou (Charal) and thus stood on the podium of the IMOCA championship. This placement complements another important award: at the beginning of November, shortly before the end of the Transat Café l’Or, she was named Rolex Female Sailor of the Year. She has also held the women’s reference time since the last Vendée Globe, with 76 days, 1 hour, 36 minutes and 52 seconds.
