Paradis Beachcomber: a tropical gem in Mauritius

by Odile habel

Mauritius

Paradis Beachcomber is located between Le Morne, the symbolic mountain of Mauritius, and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Reopened in autumn 2023 after a renovation, the resort is now even more beautiful, even more comfortable and even more paradisiacal – and is also perfect for a family vacation.

It is a paradise on earth: The aptly named Paradis Beachcomber hotel captivates guests with the majestic beauty of the surrounding nature and the chic and relaxed lifestyle that is cultivated here. Experience fun-filled days between the beach, golf and sea excursions. And indulge in the varied gastronomy, with three restaurants offering creative cuisine. Following its renovation, the Paradis Beachcomber now radiates new energy as a place of elegance and conviviality.

Tropical lightness

The architects have reinterpreted the classic tropical interior design by playing with voluminous shapes, beautiful materials and delicate, fresh color harmonies. The 120 tropical rooms and the eight sea-facing senior suites are all flooded with light. The soft lines of their modern furniture correspond perfectly with the honey-colored wooden floors and light stone tiles. The textiles printed with tropical motifs further emphasize the appearance and give it a strong character.
The renovation was used as an opportunity to rethink families’ relationship with their vacation. Some vacationers want a break from the hectic pace of everyday life, others look forward to adventure and
adventure and discovery or relaxing luxury. These desires are echoed in Paradis Beachcomber’s wide range of offerings, which include cozy connecting rooms surrounded by tropical gardens, elegant suites with ocean view terraces and charming beachfront villas. The connecting rooms cater to the needs of all families – whether they are looking for adventure or peace and quiet in a small group.

Dishes to share in convivial company

The hotel’s new identity is also expressed in its restaurants, which are right on trend with their focus on creativity, regionality and conviviality. Look forward to culinary journeys that will take you into familiar and new realms of flavor and enchant your palate and spirit in equal measure. The legendary Blue Marlin restaurant at Paradis Beachcomber welcomes its guests in a cozy atmosphere and elegant ambience. The blend of soft textures and fine materials is representative of the marine and tropical landscapes that surround the hotel. The innovative dishes bring out the typical flavors of the land and sea and boldly interpret the classics of world cuisine. Joie de vivre, laughter and lightness: Zest, a beachfront restaurant with a straw hut design, exudes light-heartedness. Two particularly warm materials, rattan and wood, dominate the no-frills dĂ©cor.
The cheerfulness of this restaurant is reflected in its Mediterranean cuisine: the menu includes wood-fired pizzas, hot dishes and al-fresco meals freshly prepared in the restaurant’s large open kitchen, as well as feasting boards for sharing in convivial company. The beachfront Zest Bar & Lounge is the perfect place for a tĂȘte-Ă -tĂȘte, an aperitif with friends, family or lovers. The sea view is unforgettable, especially at sunset. This little paradise is best enjoyed with a homemade cocktail inspired by the atmosphere of the place.
The spa at Paradis Beachcomber also contributes to your well-being, with its facilities and treatments designed for deep relaxation.
Golfers will find one of the most beautiful golf courses on the island in the middle of the resort against a magnificent backdrop. The 18-hole par 72 golf course stretches over 5,924 meters between Le Morne mountain and the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon.

Family vacation

The eldest daughter wants to go on a trip, while the youngest would rather play on the beach. And the middle child doesn’t really know what he wants to do. At Paradis Beachcomber, every member of the family can do as they please. Everyone organizes their day as they wish and meets up again in the evening. The wide range of activities on offer extends from handicraft workshops and cookery courses to sailing, water skiing and paddling.

A passion for leadership

Since its reopening, the Paradis Beachcomber has been managed by Stephan Lagesse. The hotel expert, who has been working in the industry for over 20 years, has previously managed several renowned establishments in Mauritius and the region. Lagesse joined the Beachcomber Group in 2019 as Hotel Manager of Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa before taking over the management of the resort two years later. He is now bringing Paradis Beachcomber back to its former glory.
