Say 52

by Louis Taurel

Good news from Lake Constance: Say Carbon Yachts is back on track. Founded in 2006, the shipyard for carbon motorboats had to file for insolvency in 2024, but now the financial turbulence is just a bad memory. At the beginning of the year, Danish real estate magnate Martin Pedersen took over the brand and got it back on track. Three models have been announced for the coming months. The Say 52 will be officially launched at the boat show in Palma and the Say 42 in Cannes. The Say 32 is set to follow in 2026. The flagship, the Say 52, weighs just 7.5 tons including the Seakeeper. That is around half as much as a comparable boat made of GRP. For silent maneuvering in the harbour or short distances between two anchorages, the sleek boat has an electric motor that pushes it forward at up to 8 knots. Otherwise, two Volvo Penta D6 diesel engines with a total of 880 hp or two 6.2-liter V8 petrol engines from Volvo Penta with 860 hp provide propulsion. Once the horses are let loose, the Say 72 accelerates up to 45 knots. The average fuel consumption at cruising speed (20 knots) is 45 liters per hour. At this speed, one tank of fuel is enough for 300 nautical miles. Visually, the boat impresses with large glass surfaces on the cabin roof and T-top. The cockpit is stylishly protected by a brushed aluminum bracket reminiscent of the targa roof of a certain 911 model
