Skippers Media
Three years after the launch of the Skippers Magazine YouTube channel and 80 videos later, Skippers is starting its own production agency.
Since the launch of the YouTube channel in spring 2022, the Skippers editorial team has produced a variety of video formats: Boat tests, reports from owner events, walkarounds, broadcasts of conferences and regattas with live commentary, official reports from the boat shows in La Grande-Motte and Cannes and online sailing courses from none other than LoĂŻck Peyron.
This wealth of experience prompted Skippers to think about ways in which others could also benefit from the skills they had acquired. After intensive consideration and consultation with the water sports industry, the idea of launching a production agency for promotional videos emerged.
In-depth knowledge of both the scene as a whole and the individual shipyards and an innovative and fresh outlook enable Skippers to offer original and comprehensive solutions, from conception to realization and assembly. As a member of the GMT Publishing Group (owner of the Worldtempus website and GMT magazine), the Skippers team can draw on all the parent company’s experience in producing content for the luxury watch industry. This summer, two talented video creators and editors have also joined the team.
Big premiere with the Thira 80
The Fountaine Pajot shipyard was the first to put its trust in Skippers Media and commission a shoot – and not just any shoot! Our team was asked to create a promotional video for the Thira 80, the new flagship of the boat manufacturer from La Rochelle.
In September, our teams and those from Fountaine Pajot boarded the third Thira 80 Serenissima III. The catamaran is a bestseller. Just a few months after its launch in September 2023, twenty units have already been ordered. The shipyard wanted an original, dynamic promotional video that would showcase the generous dimensions of the exclusive catamaran.
Several professional models were hired for the shoot. They were to show off the advantages of the boat in everyday on-board scenes.
The shoot was a tough one. Some had to learn how to ride a Seabob in a crash course in order to whizz through the water like James Bond, while others had to cut a relaxed figure on deck under sail in rough conditions or not let on that they were freezing during a night-time aperitif around the whirlpool in the middle of the Gulf of La Napoule. The spectators, on the other hand, will feel neither the cold nor the swell, but only the warmth and comfort that await them on board this unique catamaran.
