The 41st edition of the Primo Cup UBS Trophy took place from March 6 to 9 in Monaco, in a technically very demanding easterly wind. At the start: ten nationalities, five classes, eighty-six boats and more than four hundred and fifty sailors. The competition was originally launched at the suggestion of Prince Albert II of Monaco, who still supports it today. Over the years, the event has become increasingly international; today, the best in class meet here. For many teams, it is also an opportunity to train during the winter. To this end, the Yacht Club de Monaco organizes three events, the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series.
The Swiss excelled in several classes. In the J/70, the largest fleet, Aiola won third place under the leadership of Stefan Seger. Emmanuel Muller also took third place in the J/70 Corinthian with Jalla Jalla.
Sailors from the Lake Geneva region also excelled in two other classes: firstly with second place in the ClubSwan 28 with Anya Race under skipper Giulio Gatti, and secondly with a double victory in the Longtze Premier by Jarmo Wieland’s Shensu and Franck Beat with QI.
Also worth mentioning: The big winner of the Trophée Perpétuel in the J/70 class comes from Monaco(G-Spot with Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio).
