Humpback Whales to Antigua Sailing Week

par Quentin Mayerat

Dear Readers:

It’s been pretty exciting in Antigua over the past couple of weeks. Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta just completed its 25th anniversary event and it was as spectacular as ever. With over 50 entries, the spectacle on the water from Friday through Monday was fantastic and it was once again one of the most memorable events on Antigua’s Yachting Calendar.

With Classic prize-giving now complete, Antigua Sailing Week is gearing up and will have opened its Committee Desk at Antigua Yacht Club today. Registration will begin Thursday at noon and continue until noon on Saturday. The new optional Yachting World Round Antigua Race will begin at 8 am on Saturday morning and will provide some great spectator opportunities so you’ll want to get out there and follow the race.

Beginning on Friday afternoon, the week ahead will be packed full of exciting racing with fantastic parties and social events on shore. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come out and watch the racing and join the parties. Don’t forget the imobile Dockyard Festival on Sunday, April 29 and Lay Day at Pigeon Beach on Wednesday, May 2!

When the parties are finished, you may want to check out Jolly Harbour Marina’s insurance-approved summer storage facilities to lay up your boat for the hurricane season. Read on for full details on this and all of the stories in this issue!

Pray for wind!
