Das New Zealand Sailing Team setzte sich beim Red Bull Youth America’s Cup gegen seine neun Konkurrenten durch und sicherte sich den ersten Platz vor dem ebenfalls neuseeländischen Team Full Metal Jacket und dem ROFF/Cascais Sailing Team aus Portugal. Als offizieller Seilsponsor stattete TEUFELBERGER alle zehn Yachten mit den neuesten Leinen seiner Marken FSE Robline und New England Ropes aus.
Neueste Entwicklungen für spezielle Anforderungen
Die AC45 Katamarane, die extra für die America’s Cup World Series und den Red Bull Youth America’s Cup designed wurden, bringen nicht nur die Athleten an ihre körperlichen Grenzen. Auch die Ausrüstung an Bord ist bisher unbekannten Kräften ausgesetzt. Speziell die Wing-Konstruktion, mit einem 70 Fuß hohen Flügelprofil, ist für alle Hersteller absolutes Neuland, was die Anforderungen an die Seile betrifft. TEUFELBERGER hat sich dieser Herausforderung schon früh gestellt und konnte dank intensiver Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeit, perfekt abgestimmtes Tauwerk für den Red Bull Youth America’s Cup entwickeln. Das Ergebnis sind High Performance Seile, die durch spezielle Konstruktionen, den auftretenden Belastungen und enormen Kräften auf den AC45 bestens standhalten. Bei der Ausstattung der Rennkatamarane wurden ausschließlich hochwertigste Fasern wie Dyneema®, Technora oder PBO verwendet. Auch die neueste TEUFELBERGER-Technologie STS Stronger Than Steel kam zum Einsatz. Durch diesen neuartigen Heatset Prozess werden 20 % höhere Bruchkräfte erzielt und die Seile werden speziell dort eingesetzt, wo höchste Belastbarkeit gefragt ist.
Die neuen Seilentwicklungen haben die jungen Topsegler beim Red Bull Youth America’s Cup sowohl in Qualität als auch im Handling überzeugt. TEUFELBERGER konnte damit seine Rolle als Innovations- und Technologieführer der Branche weiter stärken. Viele Erkenntnisse aus dieser Zusammenarbeit werden bereits in den Produkten für 2014 berücksichtigt und auch in die Entwicklungsarbeit der kommenden Jahre einfließen. Teams von New England Ropes, FSE Robline und Ronstan Inc., dem Vertriebspartner von FSE Robline für Nordamerika, Australien und Neuseeland, waren dafür während der gesamten Zeit vor Ort, konnten viele interessante Geschäftskontakte knüpfen und zeigten sich von der Atmosphäre sowie der positiven Resonanz begeistert.

The New Zealand Sailing Team prevailed over the nine rival teams in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup and claimed the victory ahead of Full Metal Jacket, also from New Zealand, and the ROFF/Cascais Sailing Team from Portugal. Acting as the official rope sponsor of this event, TEUFELBERGER equipped each of the ten yachts with its newest FSE Robline and New England Ropes brand lines.
Brand-new Developments for Special Requirements
Designed specifically for the America’s Cup World Series and the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, the AC45 catamarans not only push athletes to their physical limits, but they also expose the gear they are equipped with to unprecedented forces. Featuring a 70 foot tall wing section, the wing structure, in particular, is completely uncharted territory to all manufacturers, where the required rope specs are concerned. TEUFELBERGER started early to respond to this challenge. Through intensive research and development, TEUFELBERGER succeeded in developing cordage perfectly attuned for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup. The final outcome of these efforts is high performance ropes which, due to their special design, best withstand the enormous stresses and forces encountered aboard AC45 yachts. For the cordage of the race cats, TEUFELBERGER employed nothing but the highest quality fibers such as Dyneema®, Technora, or PBO. TEUFELBERGER also made use of its brand-new STS (Stronger Than Steel) technology. This novel heat-set process helps achieve a 20% increase in breaking forces, and the ropes are used especially where highest strength is required.
Our latest rope developments have impressed the junior elite sailors of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup in terms of both quality and handling. This way, TEUFELBERGER continued to strengthen its role as an industry leader in innovation and technology.
